The Microsoft Exchange Analyzer Tool queries the Active Directory directory service for the value of any object of the msExchAdminGroupContainer class in the Exchange organization that contains the Exchange Server 2007 specific Administrative Group identifier, FYDIBOHF23SPDLT.

If the Exchange Analyzer determines that there is an Exchange Server 2007 administrative group in the Exchange organization, the Exchange Analyzer then queries all Active Directory sites in the organization for the value of the msExchCurrentServerRoles attribute for each msExchExchangeServer object to determine whether there is a Mailbox server role installed in any of the sites found.

Finally, if the Exchange Analyzer determines that there is a Mailbox server role installed in a site, the Exchange Analyzer queries the msExchCurrentServerRoles attribute of each msExchExchangeServer object in that site to determine whether there is also a Hub Transport server role installed in that same site.

If the Exchange Analyzer determines that there is a Mailbox server role installed in an Active Directory site that has no Hub Transport server role installed, the Exchange Analyzer displays an error.

This error indicates that, although there is a Mailbox server role installed in the Active Directory site, mail will not be transferred from mailbox to mailbox, even if the mailboxes are on the same server, until at least one Hub Transport server role is installed in the site.

The Hub Transport server role is deployed inside your organization's Active Directory directory service. It handles all mail flow inside the organization, applies organizational message policies, and is responsible for delivering messages to a recipient's mailbox. Hub Transport servers provide the following functionality:

Mail flow   The Hub Transport server role processes all messages that are sent inside the Exchange 2007 organization before they are delivered to a recipient's Inbox inside the organization or routed to users outside the organization. There are no exceptions to this behavior.

Categorization   The categorizer performs recipient resolution, routing resolution, and content conversion for all messages that move through the Exchange 2007 transport pipeline.

Routing   The Hub Transport server role determines the routing path for all messages that are sent and received in the organization.

Delivery   Messages are delivered to a recipient's mailbox by the store driver. Messages that are sent by users in your organization are picked up from the sender's Outbox by the store driver and are put in the Submission queue on a Hub Transport server.

To address this error, install the Hub Transport server role in the sites that have a Mailbox server role installed.
