The Microsoft® Exchange Server Analyzer Tool queries the Win32_NetworkAdapterConfiguration Microsoft Windows® Management Instrumentation (WMI) class to determine whether a value is set for the DHCPEnabled property. If the value for this property on an Exchange server is one (1), an error is displayed.

Running Exchange on a DHCP-enabled network card is a supported configuration. However, this configuration is not recommended. Running Exchange on DHCP-enabled computers is not a best practice because if the DHCP service fails or is interrupted, Exchange may stop delivering mail or may otherwise fail.

It is recommended that you configure all computers running Exchange to use static IP addresses.
