The Microsoft® Exchange Server Analyzer Tool queries the Active Directory® directory service to determine whether the msExchSmtpSmartHost attribute has been configured on a particular SMTP virtual server. If the Exchange Server Analyzer finds that the msExchSmtpSmartHost attribute is configured, the Exchange Server Analyzer displays a warning.

It is not a best practice to configure a smart host on an SMTP virtual server. Instead, you should create an SMTP connector and configure the smart host setting there.
