Microsoft® Exchange Server 2007 setup cannot continue because the target folder path for the Microsoft Exchange installation is compressed.

Microsoft Exchange setup requires that the first folder in the target path for the installation not be compressed. By default, the first folder in the target path for the installation is C:\Program Files.

To resolve this issue, disable compression for the first folder in the target path and rerun Exchange 2007 setup.

To disable compression for the target path
  1. In My Computer or Windows Explorer, right-click the folder to decompress.

  2. Click Properties to display the Properties dialog box.

  3. On the General tab, click Advanced.

  4. In the Advanced Attributes dialog box, clear the Compress contents to save disk space check box and then click OK.

  5. In the Properties dialog box, click OK.

  6. When the compression state is changed for the folder, in the Confirm Attribute Changes dialog box, select Apply changes to this folder, subfolders, and files.

  7. Click OK when done.
