The Microsoft® Exchange Server Analyzer Tool queries the CIM_Datafile Microsoft Windows® Management Instrumentation (WMI) class to determine the version of the smtpfltr.dll file that is used by the Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) Server 2000 Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) Message Screener feature. If the Exchange Server Analyzer finds that the value of the version number is older than 2004, a warning is displayed.

This warning indicates that a more recent version of ISA Server 2000 is available. It is recommended that you install ISA Server 2000 Service Pack 2. Upgrading to Service Pack 2 is especially critical if you are running the SMTP Message Screener feature. Older versions of the SMTP Message Screener cause a bottleneck and subsequently degrade overall message throughput performance.

To correct this warning

  1. Download ISA Server 2000 Service Pack 2 from the Microsoft Download Center (http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=37592).

  2. Review the Service Pack 2 Release Notes (http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=37584).

  3. Install Service Pack 2 using the instructions in the Release Notes.
