The Microsoft® Exchange Server Analyzer Tool reads the following registry entry to determine whether version 7.0 of Trend Micro ScanMail for Microsoft Exchange is installed:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\TrendMicro\ScanMail for Exchange\CurrentVersion\Version

The Exchange Server Analyzer also reads the following entry to determine the location for the temporary folder used by ScanMail for Microsoft Exchange:

HKLM\Software\TrendMicro\ScanMail for Exchange\CurrentVersion\Tempdir

If the TempDir value is present and configured in the registry, its presence indicates that the temporary folder used by ScanMail for Microsoft Exchange has been moved from its default location.

Finally, the Exchange Server Analyzer queries the CIM_Datafile Microsoft Windows® Management Instrumentation (WMI) class to determine the value of the Version key for AdapterSMTP.dll. That module is included with ScanMail for Microsoft Exchange from Trend Micro. A value of the Version key for AdapterSMTP.dll of less than 7.0.1386 indicates that an updated version of ScanMail for Microsoft Exchange is required.

The Exchange Server Analyzer displays a warning if the following conditions are true:

Trend Micro introduced the ability to relocate the temporary folder in recent builds of ScanMail for Microsoft Exchange. This feature only works on builds later than 7.0.1386. This warning indicates that the temporary folder has been relocated but that the relocation will not take effect because this server is running an earlier build of ScanMail for Microsoft Exchange that does not support relocation of the temporary folder.

To correct this warning
  1. Visit the Trend Micro Update Center Web site (http://www.trendmicro.com/download).

  2. Download and install any required or recommended updates for ScanMail for Microsoft Exchange.
