If you plan to deploy a new Microsoft Lync Server 2010 topology using the same computers that you are decommissioning and you also plan to change the computer that hosts the Central Management store in the new topology, you must remove the Central Management store service control point (SCP) for the existing Central Management store in Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS). If you do not plan to deploy Lync Server 2010 again or if you plan to deploy a new Lync Server topology that uses the same computer to host the Central Management store, you do not have to perform this procedure.

To remove the Central Management store service control point

  1. Log on to the computer where Lync Server Management Shell is installed as a member of the RTCUniversalServerAdmins group or a role-based access control role to which you have assigned the Remove-CsConfigurationStoreLocation cmdlet.

  2. Start the Lync Server Management Shell: Click Start, click All Programs, click Microsoft Lync Server 2010, and then click Lync Server Management Shell.

  3. To use the Remove-CsConfigurationStoreLocation cmdlet to remove the Central Management store service control point, type:

    Remove-CsConfigurationStoreLocation
