This topic provides a list of known issues as well as methods to troubleshoot problems with SMTP mail routing between Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 and Lotus Domino 6 or 7.

Known Issues

  • Embedded pictures sent from Microsoft Outlook to Lotus Notes are not displayed because Lotus Notes does not support the default Outlook file format (.png).

  • Spacing between lines is not maintained when sending mail from Lotus Notes to Microsoft Office Outlook 2007. Mail from Lotus Notes that is configured to 1.5 line spacing displays double spacing in Outlook 2007.

  • When an Outlook user takes a screenshot and pastes it into an e-mail message, the bitmap (.bmp) is not displayed by Lotus Notes clients. The .bmp will be displayed in Lotus Notes if the Outlook user selects Insert - Picture and then selects the file.

  • Indents are not maintained when routing mail from Lotus Notes to Outlook.

  • Table border thickness and colors are not maintained when routing mail from Lotus Notes to Outlook.

  • When a Notes user sends a message that contains a table with blank cells to an Outlook user, the blank cells are removed from the table.

  • If a message from Outlook routing to Lotus Notes contains an attachment with unicode characters in the attachment name, the filename is displayed as periods. The information displays correctly in Domino Web Access.

  • Mail routing from Outlook to Lotus Notes to Outlook loses the expiration date information (ExpireDate field in Lotus Notes).

  • If the OutlookJunk E-mail options are set to High, mail from the Lotus Domino servers will appear in the Outlook user's Junk folder. The Junk E-mail options should be set to Low, which is the default.

  • When an Outlook user sends an e-mail message with an embedded image to a Lotus Notes user, it is received as a picture. Additional attachments are also included in the message.

  • When an Outlook user sends an e-mail message with 1.5 or double text line spacing to a Lotus Notes user, the received message displays single text line spacing.

  • When an Outlook user sends an e-mail message with a table to a Lotus Notes user, the received message displays thicker inside borders on the table.
