If Communicator displays the message "Some calls to and from people outside of the corporate network may not connect due to server connectivity issues," you can troubleshoot the issue as follows:

  1. In the Office Communications Server 2007 R2 Administrative Tools snap-in, in Global Properties(forest level), on the Edge Serverstab, verify the following:

    • Name of the A/V Edge service. The name should be the FQDN used for access from the internal network.

    • Authentication port. The port should be the same as the A/V authentication port that is configured on the Edge Server, as shown on the Edge Interfacestab of the Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 R2  Propertiesdialog box (by default, 5062).

For details, see Specifying Trusted Edge Servicesin the Administering Office Communications Server 2007 R2 documentation.

  2. Verify that Front End Servers can resolve the FQDN that is configured on the A/V Edge service to the internal IP address that is configured on the Edge Interfacestab of the Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 R2 Propertiesdialog box.

  3. Verify that the firewall allows communication from the Office Communications Server 2007 R2 internal servers to the A/V Edge service internal IP address on the assigned port (by default, 5062).

  4. Verify that the Access Edge service is running and connected.

  5. Verify, on the Edge Server, that the external interface of the A/V Edge service that is shown on the Edge Interfacestab of the Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 R2 Propertiesdialog box is configured with a publicly routable IP address.

  6. Verify the configuration of the A/V Edge service on the Generaltab of the pool-level A/V Conferencing Server Propertiesdialog box, including the configuration of the FQDN, IP address, SIP listening port, and media port range.
