Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 R2 Enterprise Edition requires SQL Server 2008 or SQL Server 2005 with SP2 on the Back-End Database Server. Additionally, Office Communications Server 2007 R2 requires a SQL Server host for the Archiving Server and Monitoring Server. If you are currently using SQL Server 2000, you will need to upgrade to SQL Server 2008 or SQL Server 2005 SP2 before you deploy Office Communications Server 2007 R2. For details about upgrading SQL Server, see the SQL Server documentation.

Office Communications Server 2007 R2 requires new database instances. The new databases will be created automatically when you install the new Enterprise pool.
