The system is unable to access Device Update Service Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) settings, and Device Update Service will stop running.

Permissions may not be configured correctly, or Device Update Service may not be installed correctly.

Ensure that the permissions have been configured correctly, as described in “Accounts and Permissions Requirements” in the Office Communications Server 2007 R2 Planning and Architecture Guide. If permissions have been configured correctly and you continue to get this error, reinstall Office Communications Server 2007 R2 (Standard Edition) or re-run the Enterprise Pool Wizard (Enterprise Edition).

WMI settings have been changed.

WMI settings have been changed. If you make a configuration change to Device Update Service, this event should appear in the event log within approximately five minutes.

If you do not see either the expected event or the configuration change take effect, it may mean that the link between WMI and Device Update Service is not functioning. To correct the problem, restart the service by using IISRESET.
