Automatic configuration is the recommended way to connect Group Chat to Group Chat Server. If you have configured automatic client sign-in for Office Communications Server 2007 R2, you use the same Domain Name System (DNS) records for Group Chat Server.

The Office Communications Server documentation provides specific instructions on creating the DNS records required for automatic client sign-in. For details about using Office Communications Server 2007 R2 Standard Edition, see Required DNS Records for Automatic Client Sign-In at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=139909 . For details about using Enterprise pool with Office Communications 2007 R2 Enterprise Edition, see Configure DNS for your Pool at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=140088 .

To log on with automatic configuration
  1. Open Group Chat. Click Start, point to All Programs, and then click Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 R2 Group Chat.
