If you use the Systems Center Operations Manager and the Office Communications Server Management Pack, you can configure Monitoring Server to trigger Operations Manager alerts. These alerts are based on certain thresholds in the performance of A/V Conferencing Servers (that is, the A/V Conferencing service running on Front End Servers) and Mediation Servers. To specify which servers will trigger these alerts, use this procedure.

If you are not using the Office Communications Server Management Pack, these settings will have no effect and you do not need to configure them.

Note that the servers appear in the lists mentioned in these procedures only after they have sent a data report to the Monitoring Server. If you try to specify a server for alert triggering but it does not appear in the list, wait and try the procedure again later.

To configure which servers you want to trigger alerts

  1. Open the Office Communications Server 2007 R2 snap-in: Click Start, point to Administrative Tools, and then click Office Communications Server 2007 R2.

  2. In the console tree, expand Monitoring Servers.

  3. Right-click the monitoring server that you want to configure, and then click Properties.

  4. Click one of the following tabs:

    • A/V Conferencing Servers

    • Mediation Servers

  5. For each A/V Conferencing Server or Mediation Server that you want to trigger alerts, select the corresponding check box. For each A/V Conferencing Server or Mediation Server that you do not want to trigger alerts, clear the corresponding check box.
