You can use the Archiving Policy tab to manage policies at a global, site, or user level, including choosing whether to archive internal IM communications, and IM communications with external federated users. The user-scope policies can be assigned to users defined in Users.

The following procedure describes how to configure an archiving policy.

Note:
In order to configure and use archiving, you must first install the Archiving Server and connect it to the backend Archiving store.

To configure the Archiving Policy

  1. Open Communications Server Control Panel.

  2. Click Monitoring and Archiving, and then click Archiving Policy,

  3. Select the appropriate site or user from the table, click Edit, click Modify, and then do the following:

    • To enable internal archiving, select the Archive internal communications check box.

    • To enable external archiving, select the Archive external communications check box.

  4. Click Commit.
