This topic describes the supported database management systems for the back-end database and the Archiving and Monitoring databases:

Back-end database server support:

Important:
Microsoft Communications Server 2010 no longer supports SQL Server 2008 32-bit edition as a back-end database. You must use the 64-bit edition.

The Archiving and Monitoring server roles require a full installation of SQL Server.

Important:
The Monitoring server roles require installing SQL Server Reporting Services as well.
Important:
SQL Server Web edition and SQL Server Workgroup edition are not supported and cannot be used by Communications Server 2010.
