Supporting Messaging Clients

Create Additional Virtual Servers

A default IMAP4 virtual server is enabled when Exchange is installed. You can edit the default virtual server settings to customize IMAP4 support. If you have clients that access the server or folders in more than one way, you can create additional IMAP4 virtual servers. Multiple virtual servers can be created on a single computer to handle multiple local mail domains and to provide administration for several messaging scenarios. The number of IMAP4 virtual servers you can create is limited only by the resources of the server.

To create additional virtual servers:

  1. Start System Manager
on the Start menu, point to Programs, point to Microsoft Exchange, and then click System Manager.
  2. Navigate to IMAP4.
