Configure NNTP Service

NNTP Service in Windows 2000 is designed to support a stand-alone newsgroup server, making it easy to create group discussions. When you install Exchange, NNTP Service is enhanced with the capability to interface with other news servers through newsfeeds. NNTP Service can communicate with external NNTP news servers to make popular Usenet groups available to your users.

To configure the default state of NNTP Service at start up:

On the Start menu, point to Programs, point to Administrative Tools, and then click Services.
  2. In the details pane, right-click Network News Transport Protocol (NNTP), and then click Properties.
  3. On the General tab, under Startup type, select Automatic, Manual, or Disabled.
