When you schedule a synchronization, user data is exported from
Exchange to GroupWise, and then user data is imported from
GroupWise to Exchange immediately afterwards. In Novell GroupWise,
each individual directory update is transmitted in a separate
e-mail message, so directory synchronization can take a long time.
If you need to enable e-mail addressing and delivery immediately,
you can perform directory synchronization to populate each
directory with users from the other system. If you do not need to
enable e-mail addressing and delivery immediately, you can schedule directory
synchronization for low network traffic times.
Important
GroupWise users must be added to Active Directory on the Exchange
server, or Exchange will not be able to respond to GroupWise users
who query Exchange calendars.
Immediate full reload. Forces an
immediate reload of Active Directory entries, specified in the
global catalog to the GroupWise directory.
Immediate update. Forces an immediate
update of changed and new entries only, from Active Directory to
the GroupWise directory.
Note If you change the
GroupWise address of an Exchange user, you must do a full reload to
propagate the change to GroupWise. Exchange users (called external
users) in the GroupWise directory are uniquely identified by their
GroupWise address. A change made to an Exchange user's GroupWise
address on Exchange cannot be propagated to GroupWise unless the
user's old address is deleted first.
