Extend Active Directory Schema with
OWA-Schema.vbs
Exchange 2000 Server Service Pack 2 includes the OWA-Schema.vbs
import script. This script automatically completes each task
described in the Extend Active
Directory Schema Manually section.
OWA-Schema.vbs:
Determines which domain controller is the schema master in your
Active Directory forest.
Connects to the schema master and determines if the Schema
Updates Allowed registry key is set to 1. If not,
OWA-Schema.vbs sets the value to 1.
Uses the LDIFDE tool to import OWA-Schema.ldf to your Active
Directory schema on the schema master server. OWA-Schema.ldf adds
the msExchMailboxFolderSet attribute to the schema, and
extends the Mail-Recipient class.
If necessary, returns the Schema Updates Allowed
registry key value to 0.
To run the OWA-Schema.vbs script:
Copy OWA-Schema.vbs and OWA-Schema.ldf from the
Support\OWASCHEMA folder of Exchange 2000 Server Service Pack 2 to
a directory in which you have read/write permissions.
In the new directory, type OWA-Schema.vbs.
Segmenting Outlook Web Access Per User
After you update the Active Directory schema, use the Windows 2000
ADSI Edit tool to set the appropriate value on the user's
MsExchMailboxFolderSet attribute. Click the figure below to
see the bitmask that determines this value. For example, according
to the table in the figure, the decimal value for contacts is
4, the decimal value for calendaring is 2, and the
decimal value for messaging is 1. To enable Contacts,
Calendar, and Inbox for an Outlook Web Access user, set the
attribute value to 7. Enlarge figure
Note For information about
how to use ADSI Edit to modify an attribute of an Active Directory
user object, see Windows 2000 Server documentation.
