Manually Delete a Message From a Queue

Use the Manually Delete a Message From a Queue command when you want to delete one or more messages directly from the details pane.

To delete individual messages in a queue:

  1. Start System Manager
    On the Start menu, point to Programs, point to Microsoft Exchange, and then click System Manager.
  2. Navigate to the desired queue.

    For SMTP queues

    5. SMTP virtual servers
    6. SMTP virtual server

    For X.400 queues

    1. Servers
    2. Server

    For MAPI (connector) queues

    1. Connectors

  3. Click the queue to select it.
  4. If necessary, enumerate or re-enumerate the messages in the queue.
  5. Right-click the message or messages you want to delete, and then point to one of the following options:

    Note   Hold down the SHIFT key while clicking on a message to select multiple consecutive messages. Hold down the CTRL key while clicking on messages to select multiple non-consecutive messages.

Option Description
Delete Messages (no NDR) Deletes messages from the queue without notifying the sender. The message will not be delivered.
Delete Messages (send NDR) Deletes messages from the queue. The sender of the message is notified with a non-delivery report (NDR).
