When Microsoft Operations Manager (MOM) is configured to monitor a Microsoft Exchange Client Access server and the MOM agent is configured to use default settings, the Microsoft.Exchange.Monitoring.exe process may consume all available memory on the server. In this case, the Client Access server may experience slow performance, or it may stop responding.

Cause

This issue typically occurs when you run many connectivity tests on a Client Access server that has many mailboxes. For example, this issue may occur when you run tests that use the Test-OWAconnectivity cmdlet.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, you can reduce the frequency of the connectivity tests in MOM. This allows the .NET Framework's garbage collection process to run more often and allows memory usage to stabilize. The optimal frequency of the tests depends on the number of backend servers and the number of Client Access server mailboxes that you want to test. Run the connectivity tests less often if you are testing a Client Access server that has many mailboxes.
