Use the SMTP E-Mail Address dialog box to configure the format of your organization's Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) e-mail addresses. For example, you can create policies in which the SMTP e-mail address for every member of your organization will display as email@example.com or firstname.lastname@example.org.
- E-mail address local part
Select this check box to configure how the local part of the SMTP e-mail address will appear. The local part of an e-mail address is the name that appears before the at sign (@). If you clear the check box, the local part uses the recipient's alias.
Select from the following options:
- Use alias
Note: If you click Use alias, the e-mail address policy uses the recipients' aliases that appear on the E-Mail Addresses tabs of the recipients' property pages.
- First name.last name (john.smith)
- First name initial and last name (jsmith)
- First name and last name initial (johns)
- Last name first name (smith.john)
- Last name initial and first name (sjohn)
- Last name and first name initial (smithj)
- Use alias
- E-mail address domain
Use this box to select the e-mail address domain to which this e-mail address policy applies. You can also create additional e-mail address policies if your organization receives mail for multiple domains, or if your default domain is used strictly for internal purposes and you use a different external mail domain.
