Use the Update-FileDistributionService cmdlet to use the File Distribution Service to poll for offline address book (OAB) and Unified Messaging (UM) configuration and data.

Syntax

Update-FileDistributionService -Identity <ServerIdParameter> [-DomainController <Fqdn>] [-Type <String>]

Parameters

Identity

Microsoft.Exchange.Configuration.Tasks.ServerIdParameter

Use the Identity parameter to specify the GUID or Server name that represents a specific server.

You can omit the parameter label Identity so that only the server name or GUID is supplied.

DomainController

Optional

Microsoft.Exchange.Data.Fqdn

To specify the fully qualified domain name of the domain controller that retrieves data from Active Directory, include the DomainController parameter in the command.

Type

Optional

System.String

This parameter specifies whether to reload OAB data, UM data, or both.

Detailed Description

This cmdlet will force the File Distribution Service to reload its configuration and poll for new data associated with OAB and UM configuration.

To run the Update-FileDistributionService cmdlet, the account you use must be delegated the following:

  • Exchange Server Administrator role and local Administrators group for the target server
