New to Exchange 2007 SP1

If you are running the original release (RTM) version of Exchange 2007, you can view and manage all virtual directories from the Outlook Web Access tab of computers that have the Client Access server role installed. However, if your Exchange 2007 RTM computer does not have the Client Access server role installed, you will be unable to view or manage legacy virtual directories from the Exchange Management console. The four default legacy virtual directories are as follows: /Public, /Exchweb, /Exchange, and /Exadmin.

If you are running Exchange 2007 SP1, consider the following:

  • If you have the Client Access server role and the Mailbox server role installed on the same computer, you will only be able to view and manage the Exchange 2007 virtual directories from the Outlook Web Access tab. In the Exchange Management Console, you access the Outlook Web Access tab by clicking Server Configuration, and then Client Access. The default Exchange 2007 virtual directory is /owa. You must view and manage the legacy virtual directories from the WebDAV tab on a computer that has the Mailbox server role installed. In the Exchange Management Console, you access the WebDAV tab by clicking Server Configuration and then Mailbox.

  • If you do not also have the Mailbox server role installed on your Client Access server, you can view and manage all virtual directories from the Outlook Web Access tab.
