Topic Last Modified: 2008-03-24
This topic provides information about how to troubleshoot error 930865 when you try to accept a meeting request on behalf of a Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 resource mailbox. You may receive the following error messages: "Cannot open Calendar folder for user resource_mailbox_name. The operation failed" or "Cannot open the free/busy information. You do not have permission to create a subfolder in this folder." This issue may occur when the following occurs:
- You are a delegate for the resource mailbox.
- You have insufficient permissions to the resource mailbox.
If the delegate has insufficient permissions to the resource mailbox, the delegate cannot respond to meeting requests, nor can the delegate view calendar items. This situation can occur if an administrator used the ResourceDelegates parameter of the Set-MailboxCalendarSettings command to set permissions on the resource mailbox.
Before You Begin
To perform this procedure, the account you use must be delegated membership in the local Administrators group. For more information about permissions, delegating roles, and the rights that are required to administer Microsoft Exchange Server 2007, see Permission Considerations.
Resolution
To resolve this issue, use one or both of the following procedures.
Procedure
To provide full mailbox access for the resource mailbox to the delegate
-
From the Exchange Management Shell, type the following command:
Add-MailboxPermission Resource_Mailbox_Alias -AccessRights:fullaccess -User:Delegate_Alias
-
If the delegate is currently logged on to Microsoft Office Outlook, make sure they exit, and then restart Outlook.
To modify the free and busy permissions for the resource mailbox
-
From the Exchange Management Shell, type the following command:
Add-MailboxPermission Resource_Mailbox_Alias -AccessRights:fullaccess -User:Resource_Administrator_Alias
-
Create a Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 profile for the resource mailbox.
-
Start Outlook 2007 with this new profile, and then provide the resource_administrator_alias credentials when prompted.
-
In the navigation pane, click the Folder List icon, right-click the Calendar folder, and then click Properties.
-
On the Permissions tab, ensure that the permission level for the delegate is set to at least Editor, and then click OK.
-
Exit, and then restart Outlook 2007.
