Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 Service Pack 1 (SP1) setup cannot continue because the attempt to install the clustered mailbox server failed.
Under the specific conditions found in this environment, Exchange Server 2007 SP1 setup requires that a computer account with the intended name for the clustered mailbox server be enabled in the local Active Directory site and a Network Name resource not be associated with it when Exchange Server 2007 SP1 setup is run.
The specific conditions found in this environment are either:
Scenario 1-
Setup was run with the /newCMS option.

Exchange Server is being installed on a computer running the Windows Server 2003 operating system.

The domain controller with the primary domain controller (PDC) role is located outside of the local Active Directory site.
-
A computer object associated with the intended clustered mailbox server name does not exist or is not enabled in the local Active Directory site.

Setup was run with the /newCMS option.
-
Exchange Server is being installed on a computer running the Windows Server 2003 operating system.
-
The domain controller with the primary domain controller (PDC) role is located outside of the local Active Directory site.
-
A computer object associated with the intended clustered mailbox server name exists and is enabled in the local Active Directory site.

There is a Network Name resource associated with the clustered mailbox server name.
To address this issue, do one of the following:
To address the conditions met in Scenario 1-
Create or enable the computer account with the intended name for the clustered mailbox server on a domain controller in the local Active Directory site.

Grant Full access permissions to the cluster service account for the computer account created or enabled.

Rerun Exchange Server 2007 SP1 setup.

Delete the Network Name resource associated with the clustered mailbox server name.

Rerun Exchange Server 2007 SP1 setup.

Log on to a local domain controller with the appropriate credentials.
Note: To perform this procedure, you must be a member of the Account Operators group, Domain Admins group, or the Enterprise Admins group in Active Directory, or you must have been delegated the appropriate authority. -
Click Start, click Programs, click Administrative Tools and then click Active Directory Users and Computers.

In the console tree, expand the local domain, and then expand Computers.

If the computer account object with the intended name for the clustered mailbox server exists but is disabled, right click on the object and select Enable Account.

If the computer account object with the intended name for the clustered mailbox server does not exist, right click Computers, select New, and then select Computer.

At the New Object - Computer pane Computer name dialogue type the intended name for the clustered mailbox server and then click Next.

In the Managed pane select Next, and then click Finish.

Right click the computer object and select View, and then Advanced Features.

Right click the newly created computer object and select Properties.

.Select the Security tab and then select Add at the Group or user name: pane.

Add the Cluster Service Account name and select the Full Control checkbox from the Permissions pane.

Exit Active Directory Users and Computers.

Open Cluster Administrator.

In the console tree, click the Resources folder.

In the details pane, click the resource you want to remove.

On the File menu, click Delete.
