The Microsoft® Exchange Server Analyzer Tool queries the Active Directory® directory service to determine the value for the msExchESEParamBaseName attribute of all objects with a class of msExchStorageGroup. Objects with this class are storage group objects. A value of R00 for the msExchESEParamBaseName attribute indicates that the storage group object is a recovery storage group. If the Exchange Server Analyzer finds that the value for this attribute is R00, a warning is displayed.

This warning indicates that a recovery storage group exists. We recommend that you remove a recovery storage group after you complete the recovery process. If you do not remove a recovery storage group, an administrator who is unfamiliar with recovery storage groups may be confused when performing a standard recovery in the future.

To correct this warning for Exchange 2000 Server and Exchange Server 2003

  1. Open Exchange System Manager.

  2. Expand Servers, and then expand the server that contains the recovery storage group you want to delete.

  3. Right-click the recovery storage group, and then click Delete.

  4. Close Exchange System Manager.
