The Microsoft® Exchange Server Analyzer Tool reads the following registry entry to determine its current value:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\MSExchangeMTA\Parameters\LAN-MTAs

If the Exchange Server Analyzer finds the value for LAN-MTAs present and set to anything other than 20, a non-default configuration message is displayed.

The LAN-MTAs value is the number of network message transfer agents (MTAs) that are supported by the MTA. It is recommended that you use a value of 20 for this registry value.
