The Microsoft® Exchange Server Analyzer Tool queries the Active Directory® directory service to verify that the directory from which messages are picked up is not the same directory to which messages are queued for a specific SMTP virtual server. If the Exchange Server Analyzer finds that the attribute for the Queue directory, which is msExchSmtpQueueDirectory, and the attribute for the Pickup directory, which is msExchSmtpPickupDirectory, are the same, the Exchange Server Analyzer displays an error.
This error is a critical error. If the msExchSmtpQueueDirectory attribute and the msExchSmtpPickupDirectory attribute are set to the same directory, duplicate messages are delivered. You can update these attributes by using Active Directory Service Interfaces (ADSI) Edit.
Caution: |
---|
If you incorrectly modify the attributes of Active Directory objects when you use ADSI Edit, the LDP (ldp.exe) tool, or another Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) version 3 client, you may cause serious problems. These problems may require that you reinstall Microsoft Windows Server™ 2003, Exchange Server 2003, or both. Modify Active Directory object attributes at your own risk. |
