The Microsoft Exchange Performance Troubleshooter produces a report that displays the results of the data gathered during analysis of the server. You can select from five types of views:
- Critical Issues List Displays root
cause issues and other factors that may affect performance
- Detailed View Displays a tree-like
structure that contains all data gathered during the analysis
- Full Issues List Displays root causes
and other suggestions to resolve performance issues
- Run Time Log Displays the internal
processing status of the tool
- Summary View Displays a tree-like
structure that contains all recommendations
In the Critical Issues List and Full Issues List, you can click any error or warning issue to see an explanation. Then, you can click Tell me more about this issue and how to resolve it to get more detailed information.
From the report window, you can choose to print or export the collected data. Supported export formats include XML, HTML, and CSV (comma-separated value).

All data that is gathered is kept in an output XML file that is located at <system drive>\Documents and Settings\<user>\Application Data\Microsoft\ExPTA. |
In some cases, you might want to view the report from a previous analysis instead of starting a new analysis. To learn how to view a previous report, see How to View a Previous Microsoft Exchange Troubleshooting Assistant Report.
