The Microsoft® Exchange Server Analyzer Tool reads the following registry entry to determine the version of Trend Micro ScanMail for Microsoft Exchange that is installed:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\TrendMicro\ScanMail for Exchange\CurrentVersion\Version
The Exchange Server Analyzer also reads the following registry entry to determine the location of the SharedResPool folder:
HKLM\Software\TrendMicro\ScanMail for Exchange\CurrentVersion\SharedResPool
Finally, the Exchange Server Analyzer reads the following registry entry to determine the location where ScanMail for Microsoft Exchange has been installed:
HKLM\Software\TrendMicro\ScanMail for Exchange\CurrentVersion\HomeDir
The Exchange Server Analyzer displays a best practice message if the following conditions are true:
- ScanMail for Microsoft Exchange Version: 7 is installed.
- The SharedResPool folder is located in the path of the ScanMail
It is a best practice to relocate the SharedResPool directory to a drive that is faster than that of the root directory used by ScanMail for Microsoft Exchange. Trend Micro recommends that customers relocate the SharedResPool folder to a faster drive for better performance. The SharedResPool directory contains memory-mapping files for the shared resources between the processes included with ScanMail for Microsoft Exchange Version: 7.0. You should not delete the contents of this directory.
For more information about the SharedResPool folder, see "What are the ScanMail for Exchange (SMEX) 7.0 SharedResPool and Engine directories?" (http://kb.trendmicro.com/solutions/search/main/search/solutionDetail.asp?solutionID=26898).
For more information about moving the SharedResPool folder, see "Moving the ScanMail for Exchange (SMEX) 7.0 SharedResPool directory to another location" (http://esupport.trendmicro.com/support/viewxml.do?ContentID=EN-127549&id=EN-127549).
