The Microsoft® Exchange Server Analyzer Tool reads the following registry entry to determine whether Call Trace logging is enabled:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\MSExchangeIS\ParametersSystem\Disable Call Tracing

If the Exchange Server Analyzer finds that the registry value for Disable Call Tracing is present and configured to use a value of 1, and the computer is running Exchange Server 2003, the Exchange Server Analyzer displays a non-default configuration message.

When Call Trace logging is enabled, function call data for the Store.exe processes is logged. By default, call tracing is enabled on computers that are running Exchange Server 2003. Note that this function is disabled by default on Exchange 2000 Server. However, if you are running Exchange Server 2003, you should enable call tracing unless you have been instructed otherwise under the guidance of Microsoft Product Support Services. If call tracing is enabled, it collects important information that you can use for troubleshooting any issues that occur with the store process.

To revert to the default configuration
  1. Open Registry Editor (Regedit.exe or Regedt32.exe).

  4. Close Registry Editor, and restart the Microsoft Exchange Information Store service for the change to take effect.
