The Microsoft® Exchange Server Analyzer Tool reads the following registry entry to determine whether version 7.0 of Trend Micro ScanMail for Microsoft Exchange is installed:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\TrendMicro\ScanMail for Exchange\CurrentVersion\Version
The Exchange Server Analyzer also reads the following entry to determine the location for the temporary folder used by ScanMail for Microsoft Exchange:
HKLM\Software\TrendMicro\ScanMail for Exchange\CurrentVersion\TempDir
If the TempDir value is present and configured in the registry, its presence indicates that the temporary folder used by ScanMail for Microsoft Exchange has been moved from its default location.
Finally, the Exchange Server Analyzer queries the CIM_Datafile Microsoft Windows® Management Instrumentation (WMI) class to determine the value of the Version key for AdapterSMTP.dll. That module is included with ScanMail for Microsoft Exchange from Trend Micro.
The Exchange Server Analyzer displays a best practice message if the following conditions are true:
- ScanMail for Microsoft Exchange Version: 7 is installed.
- The temporary folder used by ScanMail for Microsoft Exchange
remains in its original default location.
- The version of AdapterSMTP.dll is a version that supports
redirection of the temporary folder used by ScanMail for Microsoft
Exchange.
Trend Micro introduced the ability to relocate the temporary folder in recent builds of ScanMail for Microsoft Exchange. This feature only works on builds later than 7.0.1386. If you are using a build of ScanMail for Microsoft Exchange that is later than version 7.0.1386, Trend Micro recommends that you relocate the temporary folder to a faster drive.
To relocate the temporary folder-
Review the Trend Micro knowledge base article, "Can users change the location of the ScanMail for Exchange (SMEX) 7.0 temporary folder?" (http://kb.trendmicro.com/solutions/search/main/search/solutionDetail.asp?solutionID=26343).
-
Perform the procedures shown in that article to relocate the temporary folder to a faster drive.
