The Microsoft® Exchange Server Analyzer Tool reads the following registry entry to determine the version of the Microsoft Windows® operating system running on the Exchange Server computer:
A CurrentVersion value of 4.0 indicates the computer is running Microsoft Windows NT® Server 4.0. A value of 5.0 indicates the computer is running Windows 2000 Server, and a value of 5.2 indicates the computer is running Windows Server™ 2003.
If the Exchange Server Analyzer finds the value for CurrentVersion equal to 4.0, a warning is displayed.
This warning indicates that this Exchange Server computer is running Windows NT Server 4.0. Windows NT Server 4.0 does not provide as much diagnostic information as later versions of Windows Server. As a result, the Exchange Server Analyzer will only be able to gather and analyze a limited amount of information.
To correct this warning
There is no immediate action to be taken. This warning is for informational purposes.
Because Windows NT Server 4.0 and Exchange Server version 5.5 are reaching the end of their product lifecycle, you should consider upgrading to Windows Server 2003 and Exchange Server 2003.
