The Microsoft® Exchange Server Analyzer Tool queries the Active Directory® directory service to determine whether you have a public folder connection agreement between Active Directory and each Exchange Server 5.5 site. It does this by querying both the number of public folder connection agreements, and the number of configuration connection agreements. If the Exchange Server Analyzer determines that the number of public folder connection agreements is less than the number of configuration connection agreements, a warning is displayed.
This warning indicates that at least one Exchange Server 5.5 site does not have a public folder connection agreement with Active Directory, and cannot replicate directory objects for public folders to Active Directory. Therefore, mail cannot flow from Exchange 2000 Server or Exchange Server 2003 mailboxes to Exchange Server 5.5 public folders, nor can mail flow from Exchange Server 5.5 mailboxes to mail-enabled Exchange 2000 Server or Exchange Server 2003 public folders.
Configuration connection agreements are automatically generated when you install an Exchange 2000 Server or Exchange Server 2003 computer in a pure Exchange Server 5.5 site. Public folder connection agreements are user-defined. If there is a public folder connection agreement between each Exchange Server 5.5 site and Active Directory, there will be at least as many public folder connection agreements as configuration connection agreements.
To create a public folder connection agreement
-
On an Active Directory Connector (ADC) server, start Active Directory Connector Manager. (On the Start menu, point to Programs or All Programs, point to Microsoft Exchange, and then click Active Directory Connector).
-
In the console tree, click Active Directory Connector. The right window lists the connection agreements. Use this list to determine which site(s) do not have Public Folder connection agreements.
-
On the Action menu, point to New, and then click Public Folder Connection Agreement to display the Properties dialog box.
-
On the General tab, in Name, type a name for the connection agreement.
-
In the Active Directory Connector Service box, select a server to run the connection agreement.
-
On the Connections tab, select the Active Directory server and the Exchange Server 5.5 server that you want to replicate public folder objects, specifying the appropriate account and credentials for each.
-
On the Schedule tab, select the replication schedule.
-
Click OK.
