The Microsoft® Exchange Server Analyzer Tool queries the CIM_Datafile Windows® Management Instrumentation (WMI).to verify that the Mountmgr.sys driver exists.
The Exchange Server Analyzer then reads the following registry value to determine which version of the Microsoft Windows® operating system is running on the Exchange server: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\CurrentVersion
If the CurrentVersion value equals 5.0, the Exchange server is running on Microsoft Windows 2000 Server. If the CurrentVersion value is 5.2, the Exchange server is running on Microsoft Windows Server™ 2003.
The Exchange Server Analyzer also queries the Win32_Service Microsoft Windows® Management Instrumentation (WMI) class to determine the value of the Started key for the Cluster service (ClusSvc). A value of TRUE indicates the Cluster service is started, and a value of FALSE indicates the Cluster service is not running.
The Exchange Server Analyzer displays a warning if the following conditions are true:
- The Exchange Server computer is running on Windows Server
2003.
- Windows Server 2003 SP1 is not installed.
- The Exchange Server runs in a clustered environment.
- Volume mount points exist.
The warning indicates that if the Exchange cluster node environment is upgraded to Windows Server 2003 SP1, you will require the update referenced in the following section. Without this update you may experience volume mount point failures after the upgrade.
To correct this warning-
Apply the update referred to in Microsoft Knowledge Base article 898790, "Volume mount points on disks in a server cluster may intermittently become unavailable after you install Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1" (http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=3052&kbid=898790).
