When you install Microsoft Lync Server 2010, Group Chat, the Microsoft Lync Server 2010, Group Chat Configuration tool is automatically installed on the same computer. If your deployment includes multiple computers running Lync Server 2010, Group Chat; Lookup services; Channel services; and/or Web services, you must use the Group Chat Configuration tool that is installed on the same computer as the service or server that you want to manage. However, you can configure pool-wide settings from any Group Chat Server.

To open the Group Chat Configuration Tool

  1. On the Group Chat Server, sign in using an account that is a member of the RTCUniversalServerAdmins group or an account that was specified as a super user during setup.

  2. Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Administrative Tools, and then click Lync Server 2010 Group Chat.

  3. Open the Group Chat Configuration tool.
