When you deploy Office Communications Server in a consolidated configuration, all server roles are installed together on each Enterprise Edition server within a pool. For details about the consolidated configuration, see the Enterprise Edition Consolidated Topologytopic in the Office Communications Server 2007 R2 Supported Topologies and Infrastructure Requirements documentation.

Important:
Office Communications Server 2007 R2 must be run on 64-bit hardware with a 64-bit operating system, such as the 64-bit editions of Windows Server 2003 or Windows Server 2008.

We recommend that you use the Deployment Wizard to deploy Enterprise Edition. You can run the wizard from the Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 R2 CD, or from a network share. If you install from a network share, go to the \setup\amd64\ folder, and then double-click setupEE.exe. If the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable Package, Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5, and the Windows Media Format Runtime are not already installed on the computer, you will be prompted to install them before the Deployment Wizard starts.

In Office Communications Server 2007 R2, the Office Communications Server snap-in, the Communicator Web Access snap-in, and the deployment command-line tool, LcsCmd, which is used to deploy Office Communications Server 2007 R2 in an expanded configuration, are not installed by default. For details about installing these administrative tools, see the Installing Administrative Toolsin the Administering Office Communications Server 2007 R2 section of the Operations documentation.
