Office Communications Server 2007 R2 does not support the use of Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) accelerator devices for the following reasons:
- SSL connections that are used by Office Communications Server
typically last several hours and carry many requests. Using an
accelerator to speed the creation of such connections is not as
important as it is for SSL connections that last for a short
period.
- SSL connections in Office Communications Server are mutual, and
the server must be able to identify the entity that is connecting
to it. Many SSL accelerators cannot pass this information to the
server and, therefore, cannot be supported.
