Use the following steps to validate your Front End server configuration.

If you did not configure Enterprise Voice or deploy Edge
servers, you will get the following warning messages:

You can perform additional validation of server functionality by using the steps described in Validation and Troubleshooting Hints in Office Communications Server 2007 R2in the Office Communications Server 2007 R2 Troubleshooting documentation.
To validate your Front End Server configuration

Log on to a Standard Edition server or Enterprise Edition server as a member of the RTCUniversalServerAdmins group.

Do one of the following:
- Insert the Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 R2 CD,
and then click one of the following:

Enterprise Edition
-
Standard Edition
-
Enterprise Edition
- If you are installing from a network share, browse to the
\Setup\amd64 folder on the network share, and then double-click one
of the following:

setupEE.exe
-
setupSE.exe
-
setupEE.exe
- Insert the Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 R2 CD,
and then click one of the following:
-
In the deployment tool, do one of the following:
- Click
Deploy Pools in a Consolidated Topology.
- Click
Deploy Standard Edition Server.
- Click
Deploy Pools in a Consolidated Topology.

Do one of the following:
- For Office Communications Server Enterprise Edition, click
Validate Server or Pool Functionality.
- For Office Communications Server Standard Edition, click
Validate Server Functionality.
- For Office Communications Server Enterprise Edition, click
Validate Server or Pool Functionality.

At Validate Front End Server Functionality, click Run.

On the Welcome to the Office Communications Server 2007 R2 Validation wizardpage, click Next.

On the Validation stepspage, do any or all of the following:
- To validate that the Office Communications Server is configured
correctly, select the
Validate Local Server Configurationcheck box.
- To verify that the Office Communications Server has
connectivity to the Back-End Database, the Web Conferencing Server,
and the Audio/Video Conferencing Server, select the
Validate Connectivitycheck box.
- Clear the
Validate SIP Logon (1-Party) and IM (2-Party)and
Validate IM Conference (2-Party)check boxes.
Note: The Validate SIP Logon (1-Party) and IM (2-Party) and Validate IM Conference (2-Party) options determine whether your enabled users can log on and send instant messages to one another. You can rerun the Validation Wizard and select these tasks after you have created and enabled users for Office Communications Server.
- To validate that the Office Communications Server is configured
correctly, select the
Validate Local Server Configurationcheck box.

Click Next.

When the wizard is complete, select the View the log when you click ‘Finish’check box, and then click Finish.

In the log file, verify that <Success>appears under the Execution Resultcolumn for each task, and then close the log window when you finish.
