Installing Office Communications Server 2007 R2 involves much more than installing an application and a few server roles. Office Communications Server depends on AD DS; many of the server roles have dependencies on one another; and (depending on the edition and configuration) installations often involve multiple physical computers. Because of all this there are certain setup steps that need to take place before any files are actually installed, and there are many additional steps after installation.
