After you have installed the various server roles in Office Communications Server 2007 R2, you need to activate each server. LCSCmd provides an Activateaction for every server role. Activatecreates Active Directory settings for the server while assigning a service account and permissions.

Before beginning this task for any Office Communications Server joined to an Active Directory domain, all ForestPrepand DomainPrepactions should be successfully completed. After you activate each server, verify that the task was successful by running the CheckLCServerStatecommand as detailed in Checking the Server State (Command Line).
