This topic describes the minimum requirements for servers that run Office Communications Server 2007 R2.
Important: |
---|
Office Communications Server 2007 R2 requires 64-bit hardware. The 32-bit hardware used for prior versions of this product cannot be reused for Office Communications Server 2007 R2. |
Hardware requirements vary according to server role, topology (that is, Standard Edition, Enterprise Edition in a consolidated configuration, or Enterprise Edition in an expanded configuration), and storage requirements, and are determined by the specific deployment scenario.
The following tables describe the hardware requirements for an Enterprise pool that has 100,000 endpoints, includes all Office Communications Server functionality, and has eight Front End Servers.
Note: |
---|
Monitoring Servers, Archiving Servers, and Group Chat Servers that do not host their associated databases have the same hardware requirements as a Front End Server. |
Table 1. Enterprise Edition, Front End Server
Hardware component | Minimum requirement |

CPU |
|
Memory |
8 gigabytes (GB) |

2-port 1 gigabit per second (Gbps) network adapter (recommended) |
The requirements in the following table apply to the Back-End Database and to Monitoring, Archiving, Group Chat, and Compliance databases.
Note: |
---|
Monitoring Servers, Archiving Servers, and Group Chat Servers that host their associated databases have the same hardware requirements as the database. |
