The following procedure describes how you can configure the Channel Server settings in the Group Chat Server Configuration Tool.

The credentials used for connecting with Office Communications Server are shown here, but they should not be edited. To modify the service credentials, see Changing Service Account Credentialsin the Administering Office Communications Server 2007 R2 documentation.

The Channel service produces a troubleshooting log file. This log file is located in the installation folder under Logs. You can change the log level of the service dynamically without the need to restart the service. For details about logging, see Setting Log Levels for the Channel Service, Lookup Service, or Web Service.

All servers in the Group Chat Server pool use the server pool to communicate with one another, sharing data and other information such as chat history and Channel service settings. The pool communications port is used by the server to connect to the server pool. The default setting for this port is 8011.

Note:
Settings made in this view affect only the locally installed Channel service. For details about changing system wide settings for all Lookup Servers, see All Lookup Servers Settings.
