Your deployment process for Microsoft Communications Server 2010 is determined by the Communications Server 2010 topology and components you decide to install, including whether you want to deploy an Enterprise Edition pool or a Standard Edition server, so it requires that you determine what you want to deploy before you start the deployment process. You can use the Planning Tool to help automate the design and definition of your topology and components, which will minimize the information that you must provide at deployment time, or you can use the Planning documentation to manually define your topology and components. The deployment procedures in this section do not assume that you have used the Planning Tool, so the procedures provide all the information that is required to complete deployment steps without the benefit of the Planning Tool. If you import your design from the Planning Tool into Topology Builder to deploy your topology, you will need to modify the procedures accordingly.
