Customizing Attribute Mapping

Lotus Notes and Novell GroupWise connectors use a set of attribute mapping rules that define how directory attributes of other messaging systems and Active Directory map to one another. The default mappings are suitable for most installations. However, you can change the way attributes map between the two systems by modifying the attribute mapping rules.

The connectors' directory synchronization function synchronizes a subset of the directory attributes supported by Active Directory and the partner directories. This section provides additional background information on how attributes are synchronized. It also explains how you can customize synchronization, as follows:

• Use directory synchronization control files to change the set of attributes that are synchronized and to change the rules that define how they are mapped between the partner messaging system and Active Directory.
• Use mapping functions as part of your configuration of the mapping rule files.
