This topic provides information about how to resolve issues that can occur when you use the Microsoft Transporter Suite to provide interoperability between Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 and Lotus Notes.
After you install and configure the Microsoft Transporter Suite on a computer that is running Exchange 2007, you may experience the following symptoms:
- The Calendar Connector service starts and then immediately
exits.
- You receive the following error message:
The Microsoft Exchange Free Busy Connector for Lotus Domino service on <ServerName> started and then stopped. Some services stop automatically if they are in use by other services or programs.
- The following error events are logged in the Application
log:
Event Source: MSExchangeCalCon
Event Category: Connection
Event ID: 5005
Description: The Calendar Connector could not connect to the Public Information Store due to MAPI error 80004005 and is shutting down. Ensure that the Information Store service is running and the Calendar Connector service is configured to use the Exchange Services Account and Password in Services Control Manager before restarting the Calendar Connector.
Event Source: MSExchangeCalCon
Event Category: Connection
Event ID: 5006
Description: The Calendar Connector is shutting down due to an unrecoverable error.
Cause
This issue occurs if one of the following conditions is true:
- Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 is installed on
the Exchange 2007 server that is running the Microsoft
Transporter Suite.
- The public information store is deleted or moved to another
Exchange server.
Outlook 2007 is supported on a computer that is running Exchange 2007. However, the Microsoft Transporter Suite does not work correctly when Outlook 2007 is installed. Also, although you can redirect MAPI clients to an alternative public information store, the Calendar Connector service requires access to the public information store on the local Exchange server to initialize successfully.
Resolution
To resolve this issue, use one of the following methods, as appropriate for your situation.
Method 1
Remove Outlook 2007, and then install the Microsoft Exchange Server MAPI Client and Collaboration Data Objects 1.2.1 program. To do this, follow these steps:
- Use the Add or Remove Programs tool in Control Panel to
remove Outlook 2007.
- Install Microsoft Exchange Server MAPI Client and
Collaboration Data Objects 1.2.1 from the Microsoft Download
Center.
- Start the Calendar Connector service. To do this, click
Start, click Run, type services.msc, and then
click OK. Then, in the Services snap-in, right-click
Calendar Connector, and then click Start.
Method 2
Modify the Mailbox server to force the Calendar Connector service to use the local public information store. To do this, follow these steps:
- Start the Exchange Management Console.
- Expand Server Configuration, and then click
Mailbox.
- In the middle pane, click the Database Management tab,
expand the storage group, right-click Mailbox Database, and
then click Properties.
- Click the Client Settings tab, and then examine the
entry that appears in the Default public folder database
box.
- If the default public folder database is not located on the
local server, click Browse, locate the public folder
database on the local computer, and then click OK.
- Click OK.
- Start the Calendar Connector service. To do this, click
Start, click Run, type services.msc, and then
click OK. Then, in the Services snap-in, right-click
Calendar Connector, and then click Start.
