The Microsoft Exchange Mail Flow Troubleshooter produces reports that display the results of the data that was gathered by the tool during analysis of the server. You can select from three report types:
- List Reports includes:
- Overview Displays the overall status of
the servers that were investigated
- Root Causes Displays possible root
causes of the identified issues
- Mail Flow Issues Displays critical
issues that could affect mail flow
- Other Errors Displays non-mail flow
issues
- Warning Displays issues that are
generally not recommended
- Recommendations Displays known
recommendations
- Informational Items Displays non-issue
items
- Overview Displays the overall status of
the servers that were investigated
- Tree Reports includes:
- Detailed View Displays a tree-like
structure that contains all data gathered during the analysis
- Summary View Displays a tree-like
structure that contains all root causes, errors, warnings, items of
interest, and recommendations
- Detailed View Displays a tree-like
structure that contains all data gathered during the analysis
- Other Reports includes:
- Run Time Log Displays the internal
processing status of the tool
- Run Time Log Displays the internal
processing status of the tool
In the List Reports report type, you can click any error or warning issue to see an explanation. Then, you can click Tell me more about this issue and how to resolve it to obtain more detailed information.
From the report window, you can choose to print or export the collected data. Supported export formats include XML, HTML, and CSV (comma-separated value).

All data that is gathered is kept in an output XML file that is located at <system drive>\Documents and Settings\<user>\Application Data\Microsoft\ExMFA. |
