If a user has been enabled for Lync Server 2010, you can configure archiving support by applying the appropriate policies to specific users or user groups. For example, if you create a policy to support archiving of internal communications, you can apply it to at least one user or user group to support archiving of the user’s Lync Server 2010 communications.
|In order to configure and use archiving, you must first install
the Archiving Server and the archiving database. For details, see
Archiving in the Deployment documentation.
To configure archiving support, you must enable support for each type of archiving you want to support, as well as configure and, if appropriate, assign policies and configure other options to control how archiving is implemented. For details, see Configuring Support for External User Access and Configure Archiving Options for a Site in the Deployment documentation or Managing External Connectivity in the Operations documentation.
Use the procedure in this topic to apply a previously created archiving user policy to one or more user accounts or user groups.
To apply an archiving user policy to a user account
From a user account that is assigned to the CsArchivingAdministrator or CsAdministrator role, log on to any computer in your internal deployment.
Open a browser window, and then enter the Admin URL to open the Lync Server Control Panel. For details about the different methods you can use to start Lync Server Control Panel, see Open Lync Server Administrative Tools.
In the left navigation bar, click Users, and then search on the user account that you want to configure.
In the table that lists the search results, click the user account, click Edit, and then click Show details.
In Edit Lync Server User under Archiving policy, select the archiving user policy that you want to apply.
Note: The <Automatic> settings apply the default server installation settings. These settings are applied automatically by the server.
