The following procedure describes how to change the scope of a category.
|This procedure does not apply to the root category. The scope of the root category can only be changed in the Manage Users and User Groupsdialog box. For details, see Setting Scope for the Root Category.|
To change the scope of a category
Open the Group Chat Administration Tool.
In the Chat Roomslist, click the category, and then click the Scopetab.
Select the Overridecheck box. If the Overridecheck box is cleared, this category automatically inherits the parent category’s scope, and scope cannot be changed here.
Note: If no Overridecheck box appears, the Allow subcategory scope changescheck box for the parent of this category is cleared. If you want to change scope here, you must first select the Allow subcategory scope changescheck box for the parent category. If the parent’s Allow subcategory scope changessetting is unavailable, go to that category’s parent category to select the Allow subcategory scope changescheck box.
Initially, when you override scope, the members list is empty. To add users or groups to the members list, click Add, and then do the following:
- In the
Search Forbox, type a name or part of a name to search for,
and then click
Search. To limit your search to only exact matches for your
search criteria, enclose the search criteria in quotation marks.
Because the membership of a chat room or category must be a subset of its scope, only names in the scope are returned.
- In the list of names that match your query, click one or more
names, and then click
- When you are finished adding names from the list, click
- In the Search Forbox, type a name or part of a name to search for, and then click Search. To limit your search to only exact matches for your search criteria, enclose the search criteria in quotation marks.
To remove a user or group from the scope list, in the Scopetab, click the name in the list, and then click Remove.
To apply the changes you made, click Apply.
